We are just a few days out from the third annual Basic Income March! Here at Income Movement, we’re busy working with organizers and speakers to ensure the marches across not just the country — but the world — are set to be a fun, informative and safe experience for all involved.

Now that lineups have taken shape, we wanted to share with you some highlights of what we’re most looking forward to.

The biggest march we’re expecting is in New York City, where we’ll march through Harlem. The NYC march will bring together grassroots activists, basic income leaders, and a variety of speakers and performers including emcee James Felton Keith, Councilman Carlos Menchaca, CEO of Hunger Free America Joel Berg, the NYC Marching Cobras Drumline and more. You can find all the details for that event here.

In Mountain View, CA, we’ll have another exciting slate of speakers. Andrew Yang will be joined by several long-time cash advocates, including Gerald Huff Fund for Humanity

President Gisele Huff, Insight Center for Community Economic Development President Anne Price and Economic Security Project Co-chair Natalie Foster. More info on this march here.

In Portland, OR, organizers are expecting a festival atmosphere for their event in Peninsula Park. Music will take center stage with DJs Cee White and Deena Bee, local musicians Bitches of the Sun and Faustina Masigat. The rally will also feature community leaders and grassroots activists. Food carts, partner organizations and more will be set up in the park. Participants will have opportunities to take action together, support local vendors, and connect with each other. Get all of the details for the Portland event here.

In addition to 20 Basic Income Marches across the U.S., we’re also thrilled to have so many international locations represented this year including Jakarta, Stockholm, Istanbul, Berlin and Amsterdam. You can find the full list of participating cities here. And if you don’t live near one of the in-person events, we have you covered. We’ll be kicking off the festivities with a series of virtual fireside chats, starting with Mayors for a Guaranteed Income Founder Michael Tubbs in conversation with our Founder and President Stacey Rutland on 9/23 at 3 pm PT / 6pm ET streaming live on Income Movement’s Facebook page.

Additionally, we’ll be posting lots of march content with the hashtags #BasicIncomeMarch2021 and #WeAreTheEconomy on our social media channels, so make sure to stay tuned for updates from around the world on the excitement and energy around basic income!
